Five stages of plant growth, from a tiny seed to a thriving plant.
A seed contains everything it needs: a tiny embryo, stored food, and a protective coat. Add water and warmth, and the journey begins.
The seed cracks open. A root pushes downward into the soil. A shoot reaches upward toward the light.
The first leaves unfold. Photosynthesis begins — the plant starts making its own food from sunlight, water, and CO2.
The stem thickens. More leaves appear. The root system spreads underground, anchoring the plant and absorbing nutrients.
The plant produces flowers to reproduce. Petals attract pollinators. Seeds form inside the fruit — and the cycle begins again.
